Big Chill Entries Open

**** Big Chill Entries Open *****

Entries are now open and will close 7th July.

https://ridernet.com.au/eventView/?e=1867537

We will be having the Christmas in July dinner on the Saturday night in town. Israel Suarez has been in contact with the people who have indicated they’d like to attend regarding payment.

Club polos will be out there for collection, along with some nice event merchandise too.

This is the 3rd point scoring event for the Warley Consultancy South East QLD Cup – Period 6 250cc and 500cc motorcycle race series. The championship is tight !

Feature races are the King/Queen of the Chill, Bike and Rider over 100 yrs and the awarding of the perpetual Brass Monkey trophy. This year it will be for the highest point scoring Period 3 (last year it was Period 2 and won by Guy Evergreen Vickerman)

QEMSC 500th Club Meeting

QEMSC will reach a significant milestone next month when its members meet for the 500th club meeting.

The Executive Committee now extends an invitation to past, present and Life Members of the Club to join us in celebrating this milestone.

Valued life member Guy Vickerman has kindly provided us with the use of his building in Albion, where we currently hold our meetings and we would  like to publicly thank Guy very much for this.

The Club will host a BBQ at our next monthly meeting, scheduled for 11th June 2024 at Unit 3, 26 Argyle Street, Bowen Hills.  Your head Chef will be Ian Milton and we thank Ian very much for his efforts in organising the BBQ.

We will begin the BBQ at 1800 sharp which will allow us time to commence our monthly meeting at 1900.

regards

Israel

XMAS In July – Big Chill Dinner

The club is considering hosting a dinner / social event at a venue in Stanthorpe for the Saturday night during the Big Chill event later this year as a thank you to all members.

There will be a small $10.00 charge for any financial member and whilst friends and family members are most welcomed and encouraged to attend, unfortunately the club won’t be able to cover the costs for non financial members.

We are now seeking an urgent expression of interest of all persons who believe they would attend the event as we need to gauge numbers so we can make enquiries with an appropriate venue in Stanthorpe.

Once we determine numbers, we can look in to a venue and will also be able to advise of the costs for non-member attendance.

If you would be interested in attending, can you please respond via email to secretary@qemsc.com.au asap, with your group number of attendees.

https://ridernet.com.au/eventView/?e=1691692

Entry is $150 + your non competition licence fee if you don’t have a yearly annual licence.

This will get you more laps and bike time over 2 days then anywhere in Aus.

Camping is free as always ????

Entries will close on the 3rd March.

We do not have paper licences for purchase on the day. If you don’t know how to get it sorted on Ridernet then send me a message and we’ll get it sorted for you.

Executive positions for 2024

Our AGM was held on Tuesday night.

Our executive team for 2024 is:

President – Peter Searle;

Vice-President – Grant Jordan;

Treasurer – Cyrel Wright; and

Secretary – Israel Suarez.

The entire club thanks Barrie Stevens for his work as Secretary throughout 2023. He put his hand up at the last minute when there were no nominations at the 2022 AGM and helped the club a great deal by taking on the role.

Greg Watson has been elected as Membership Officer, and will be the new point of contact for all things relating to joining or renewing membership with the club. He can be contacted on membership@qemsc.com.au

Minutes of both AGM and the General Meeting held after it will be available for sharing soon.

There will be no December monthly meeting for 2023, so we’ll see you all in the New Year, 13th February 2024. (Venue to be confirmed). Unfortunately Skinny’s will no longer be operating as a social space and converting into a full time mechanical workshop instead. We thank Alex and Reece for hosting us for this year and wish them well in the future.

QEMSC AGM 14th November

The 2023 QEMSC AGM will be held at Skinny’s Social Garage on the 14th of November at 7pm.

Pizza and nibbles will be provided at 1830 as per our normal general meetings, with beverages available for purchase from the Skinny’s crew.

The 2024 executive team will have to be elected at this meeting, and anyone interested in nominating for a role (President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary) is welcome to nominate and heartily encouraged to do so. Any nominations can be forwarded to secretary@qemsc.com.au.

Other positions such as membership officer, event co-ordinator (ridernet management to create events and separation of classes/programme), social media/website co-ordinator and trophy/awards and merchandise co-ordinator will also be discussed during general business and new faces are encouraged to nominate too. Morgan Park raceway management have mentioned that there is possible opportunities for training in race timing software so anyone available and willing to help our existing timing team would be welcome.

Peter Searle and I have discussed our plans for the future and both believe we have 1 more year in us as President and Vice-President respectively. Our plan is to nominate in those roles next month, however if someone else would like to nominate and is successful, we would make ourselves readily available throughout 2024 to help with handover of responsibilities. Neither of us are considering nominating next year for 2025.

Our little club punches well above its weight in organising and running motorcycle events and this is due to the efforts of volunteers from our membership and partners. Nominating for a position and giving even just 1 year in a role helps continue this tradition and keeps the club strong.

See you at Skinny’s for some bench racing and banter.

Regards,

Grant Jordan
Vice-President QEMSC

Wynnum Marine QLD Historic Road Racing Championships back at Morgan Park!

19th/20th/21st September

Our friends up north in Townsville have unfortunately had to pull out of running the QHRRC due to the track not being ready.

We were all looking forward to heading up and trying out a new track so we have come up with a pretty good compromise. Layout “E”, the old shorter layout of Morgan Park, will be used to keep us all on our toes and learn some new turns. (Or re learn for some of us who used them 10 years ago). It’ll reward bike setup and handling and take some of the sting out of the big horse power heroes.

The initial plan is for a practice day on the 19th with competition taking place on the 20th and 21st.

We will keep you all up to date.

Get it into your diary and share it with your mates

2022 Australian Historic Road Racing Championships

Motorcycle Sportsmen of QLD have done a stelllar job in the running of the 2022 AHRRC, supported by both Link and Wynumm Marine.

The riders had the pick of the weather all of the days except for the first round of racing on Sunday. This allowed some lap records to be broken and the racing close and exciting.

All race results are available on the Speedhive website:

Vale Lusty

Long time club volunteer Wayne Lusty has passed away in the Tenterfield hospital early this morning.

Wayne had been fighting a terminal illness for some time & that was behind his inability to assist at this years race meetings at Carnell Raceway.

Wayne was desperate to continue volunteering at Stanthorpe as he had done for almost the past 10 years.

He was mister reliable when it came to assisting our club & his role as Chief Flag Marshal at all of our Stanthorpe events was a given.

I had the pleasure of presenting Wayne with the first ever QEMSC Outstanding Volunteer Service Award earlier this year & he was really appreciative of the honour.

Typical of the guy is that he asked his wife Rose to request we spread his ashes around the track that he loved so much.

I’m sure the members of QEMSC would be happy to obliged considering his amazing service to the club over many many years.

We’ll miss you buddy.

Australian Historic Road Racing Titles

Following the announcement that the Aussie Historic Titles that were
to be held at Queensland Raceway had been cancelled, it gives me great
pleasure to advise and confirm that the event has been revived.

The event will now be held at Morgan Park on the Sixth to the Ninth of October.

That’s one month on from our Q’ld champs, also at Morgan Park so it
presents a great opportunity to prepare and tune your machines for the
Aussies.

Thanks must go to Sheralyn McGlinchey and the Sporties team for their
determination and persistence in making this happen, despite all of
the obstacles they have had to overcome.

It’s expected that many interstate riders will attend, including
hopefully a large contingent from both West Australia and Victoria.

So fellow QEMSC members, let’s all support the 2022 Aussie titles at
Morgan Park and help to make it an enjoyable and successful event.

Remember, if you have a bike or sidecar that you intend entering and
it does not have a log book, apply as soon as possible to avoid
disappointment.

Best Regards.
Ian Milton.
Vice President.

Sponsors coming onboard for the QLD Historic Road Racing Championships

We are happy to announce that Wynnum Marine will be the naming rights sponsor for this event. After their support and professional displays at the 2021 event we are very excited to have them back.

The Wynnum Marine QLD Historic Road Racing Championships also has major sponsorship opportunities for other business to take advantage of.

One Addiction (motorcycle repairs, QRIDE licencing and dyno tuning) have secured their spot. They will have 2 races named after their business, a spot for marquees and banners and be on the program and advertising material.

Dave Oliver’s Motorcycle Tyres (wizard of all things related to tyres and handy racer himself) has joined the party too. He was our wonderful naming rights sponsor in 2020 and we are very fortunate to get his support once again for 2022.

White’s Racing Products/Bridgestone will be onsite to provide tyre changing services during the weekend. Craig always travels with a fantastic collection of tools, parts and motorcycle gear for purchase at great prices at the event.

Royal Precision Lubricants have joined in and will be promoting their incredible oils and fluids. An Australian owned and run company manufacturing high quality products.

If you own, run or know of a business who may want to join in as a major sponsor please contact treasurer@qemsc.com.au.

Presidents report  July 31st 2020

Good day to my fellow personificators of pandemoniums old.

It is with much disquiet in my heart that I must report to you that we here at QEMSC HQ have made the difficult decision to cancel the September mid week state titles at Morgan Park.

I am sure that you all understand that the times we live in are such that things are changing on a daily basis and the logistics of organizing the event were becoming increasingly difficult.

On a brighter note I am happy to report that we are currently organizing a replacement race meeting for the 19th and 20th of September to be held at Carnell raceway at Stanthorpe. This will be an open meeting the details of which will become available to all shortly.

As you know we held a Test and Tune at Stanthorpe recently and it was a very successful return to the track by approximately 60 purveyors of all things 2 and 3 wheeled hysterical. I thank you all for adhering to the new Covid rules and for making the organizers jobs easier. I think it was the most difficult and stressful meeting that I have been involved in organizing and full credit must go to Rex Dell for all the hard work and many many hours of toil that he puts in to make sure that we all enjoy ourselves.

Thank you to all the volunteers and helpers that made it happen. Without you we do not race so many thanks to you all.

Special thanks to Rex Dell and Brad Phelan for spending Wednesday and Thursday and Friday at the track setting up the air bags and getting the track organized.

Thanks to Ian Milton and Gene Lopeman for getting the air bags from Lakeside without which we would not be able to run an event of any type.

Thanks to my passenger Phil “Juanel” Brown for doing the lunch run on both days for the flaggies comestibles.

I think the award for the most diligent volunteer of the weekend must go to our wonderful secretary Dawn Jarvis. Dawn spent her weekend cleaning and sanitizing the ablutions facilities so that we as a club could comply with the Covid rules. Thank you Dawn you made my weekend much more enjoyable.

So we will see you all at Stany in September for the ” I can’t believe it’s not Chilly” BIG THAW race weekend.

Stay safe and happy and remember, ” The only thing better than horsepower is MORE BLOODY HORSEPOWER” !!!!!

Stanthorpe Test & Tune update

G’day, I hope this finds you well and in good spirits (or at least drinking some).

In the event that the travel restrictions are eased as planned by the Govt then we at QEMSC headquarters are planning to have a ‘TEST and TUNE” event at Stanthorpe in some form or another probably on the weekend of the 18th 19th of July. This date was originally the Big Chill meeting. This will not be a Race meeting.

If this event goes ahead then we would like to know how many attendees we can expect.

What you need to do:

If you would attend the Test and Tune at Stanthorpe on the 18th and 19th of July then please shoot me an email at the address below.
If you are unable to attend then there is no need to reply.

Many thanks and stay safe.
